MSVA Membership - Your Role
As summer quickly draws to a close, each of us starts to gather our information needed for the busy Fall that will soon arrive. I recognize that membership is a responsibility of everyone and is a year around event. Many of you are well on the way to achieving your membership goals, while others may be just starting to plan membership related activities. Regardless of where you and your component alliance are in the process, know that there are many resources available for you to use, including: your local officers, your state officers, the national web site (amaalliance.org), the state web site (msvalliance.org), the MSV, and your medical society affiliate. The most important resource to determine the needs of your alliance is still the population you serve. I encourage all alliance members to talk to physicians and physician spouses in your area and ask them in what they are interested – current members and those who do not know who we are.
For those individuals who have no idea who we are, I present the AMAA elevator speech for you to use in your response. “The _____ Alliance is a grassroots volunteer organization affiliated with the _________ Medical Association that's dedicated to educating and advocating for healthier communities and lifestyles.” Simply fill in the blank of this template with information pertaining to you and your alliance and add or delete information as it suits. It is really that easy to spread the word.
I will be posting membership related information on the MSVA web site soon. In preparation for my postings please send me any membership questions, ideas, or suggestions that you may have. I have a busy travel schedule this year, so the best way to reach me is through my email. I look forward to sharing your success stories so that others may benefit from your efforts.
Respectfully,
Krista Crawford-Mathis
